103: Environmental Scavenger Hunt (Community Map)

Let's go explore our communities and document any observations we gather!

Find your city/town on the Padlet map below, then post a picture or a video of a place that represents the environment in your community. This is an opportunity to show everyone your city on the map and its environment representation! You can walk to the place (if possible and safe) to appreciate it in person and take a picture or video while at it to post to the Padlet, or you can also find an old picture or look up one on the internet and share about it, in case going out is not a safe option at this time. Whichever way you do it, just show us the place and tell us what its significance is for you and your community.


Hopefully, by now you are all acquainted with Padlet, and have created accounts on it so that we can see your names when you post! For this activity we will be using Padlet Map, which allows you to choose any place on the world map and add a comment, a picture or a video on it.


  1. Create a Padlet account (if you have not already). Go to and in the top right corner of the padlet, select "sign up"
    • 2a. You can choose to sign up with your Google or Microsoft account OR
    • 2b. You can create an new account with the email and password of your choice. We recommend using the same email as your canvas account for a smoother user experience.
    • Creating an account will allow your name to appear at the top of posts rather than saying "anonymous". Always make sure you are logged in when posting on Padlet!
  2. Go to Padlet by scrolling down to the embedded map below these instructions or by opening the link in your browser.
    • You can also open the embedded Padlet by clicking on the box with a diagonal arrow icon to open in a new page.
  3. Click the + icon to create a new post then search the name of the place you would like to add.
  4. Once your place has been added to the map, include the following on your post:
    • In the title box: write the name of the place & what city/ town it is in.
    • In the description bow (where it says "write something"): explain why this place is important to you in your community.
    • Select the magnify glass icon to search google images to add a picture of the place
    • IF you would like to upload your own picture/video, you can also do that. Just click the upload button when you click +.
